John James Audubon State Park

3100 US-41, Henderson, KY 42420

John James Audubon State Park sits along US 41 North in Henderson, on wooded bluffs above the Ohio River. It honors the famous naturalist and painter, who lived in Henderson from 1810 to 1819. The Audubon Museum, in a stone, chateau-style building raised by the Civilian Conservation Corps, holds the largest collection of original Audubon art in the world, including a full set of The Birds of America. The Nature Center shares the building and has a wildlife viewing room. Outside, you'll find hiking trails through mature forest, with some trees more than 200 years old, plus a lake, a golf course, a campground, cottages and a boardwalk through the Audubon Wetlands. Plan to stay a while.
