Ellis Park

Ellis Park Racing & Gaming is Henderson's century-old Thoroughbred track, out on US 41 North. It sits on a sliver of Kentucky north of the Ohio River, just south of Evansville, because the river changed course long ago while the state line stayed where it was. The track opened in 1922 as Dade Park and was renamed in 1954 for James C. Ellis, who bought it in 1925. It has been the home of summer Thoroughbred racing in Kentucky for more than 100 years.
